Trace Adkins country singer to divorce his wife

It’s not just rock stars and movie stars who divorce, it’s also country singers. According to WSMV in Tennessee, Trace Adkins and his wife Rhonda have decided to file for divorce. According to reports issued last week Trace Adkins, the 52 year old country singer, and his wife are divorcing after sixteen years of marriage. The couple has cited irreconcilable differences.

Rhonda Adkins is seeking primary custody of the couple’s three daughters: MacKenzie, Brianna, and Trinity. Rhonda is also requesting the court order Trace Adkins, who she refers to as her “estranged husband” to pay her legal fees, spousal support and child support payments. He has been married three times previously and has three daughters from his third wife Rhonda Forlaw and two daughters from his first marriage.

Trace Adkins, like many celebrities, has admitted to struggling with alcohol addiction. In fact, the country crooner was admitted into a rehab facility in January of this year after getting into a fight with a Trace Adkins impersonator on a cruise ship. He had previously been sober for 12 years. According to reports, Trace Adkins left rehab after just a few weeks to be at his father’s death bed but returned for treatment following his father’s death.

Reports from as recently as March 11 of this year, however, report the singer is in good health and according to one band member, Adkins “looked like a million bucks. He has lost weight. He’s toned up. He was smiling. Trace Adkins was smiling and grinning from ear to ear.” He most recently appeared at the Grand Old Opry to perform.

Who is Trace Adkins?

Trace Adkins grew up in Northern Louisiana. His musical interest came at an early age when his father taught him to play the guitar. He attended Louisiana Tech University where he played football, although he never graduated. He later moved to Nashville and begun performing in bars where he was spotted by a Capital Nashville executive who signed him to a singing label.

Trace Adkins released his first single, There’s a Girl in Texas in 1996 where it went on to reach the top 20 on the Hot Country Singles and Tracks Billboard charts. He later released an album that same year which also had several top five singles. His second album Big Time was also successful with a top five song The Rest of Mine.

Determining child custody after divorce

So how will the judge determine who gets custody of the Adkin’s three daughters? The judge will review a variety of factors. The judge’s primary interest, however, will be creating a child custody plan which is in the best interest of the child. To determine this, the court will review a variety of factors including:

  1. The parent’s conduct in the past
  2. The health and well-being of each parent
  3. The home environment which could be provided by each parent
  4. The role of each parent
  5. The presence of siblings in the family
  6. The relationship of the child to the parent
  7. Whether either parent has a history of abuse or neglect
  8. Whether either parent has a drug or alcohol problem
